Consumer Alliance net-WORK

EXCHANGE

Mission

To provide a support forum for employed consumers to discuss issues impacting work and home-life.

Objectives

To help consumers help themselves maintain overall well-being and employment, whether paid or volunteer, in an environment that is supportive, flexible and non-judgmental.

To provide a safe place to openly talk about employment issues.

To support the rights of workers with mental illness and others with disabilities.

To be advocates for change to eliminate stigma, especially in the workplace.

To learn from each other through group expression.

To support group accountability.

To gain value by helping others.

To create a network (directory of skills) of expertise.

To serve as a source of information (work-related) or other areas of need such as (mental health services, housing, transportation, etc.)

Treatment works and Recovery is Possible

Work is central to daily life and to emotional well-being

Consumers are valuable employees and are assets to the companies in which they work.

Work gives purpose and personal satisfaction in life.

Working brings both stability and structure to a person’s life.

Work provides an outlet for social relationships and community interaction

Working allows consumers to participate in economic growth and development.

Rules of Engagement

Participation in meetings is anonymous: What’s discussed at meetings remains in the meetings.

Meetings last for one (1) hour

Everyone is afforded full respect and are expected to respect others

The CAN-WORK Exchange is not open to family members
